Our Journey
Every company starts with a simple idea. For Taxibooker, it was the question: what if booking a taxi was as easy as sending a WhatsApp message?
Since 2021, this idea has grown into an AI-powered taxi booking platform that helps local operators stay competitive with three new booking channels — WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
Our journey is about more than technology. It is about giving taxi companies worldwide the tools they need to grow, connect with passengers, and stay strong in a changing market.
2021- From concept to Solution
The idea for Taxibooker was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, when taxi companies needed smarter ways to reach passengers. Our goal was clear: empower local operators through social messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
In October 2021, the first proof of concept was introduced at TCA Taxi in Amsterdam, marking the start of Taxibooker’s journey from idea to working solution.
2022 – First launch in Amsterdam
In February 2022, the first version of Taxibooker went live in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. Our goal was to reach 500 bookings per month — and we achieved this in just two weeks.
The launch showed that WhatsApp taxi booking quickly gained traction. Passengers in Amsterdam preferred booking with local taxi companies through a simple message, instead of relying only on traditional platforms or private hire vehicles.
Thanks to strong collaboration and smart marketing, Taxibooker became a proven solution in one of Europe’s most competitive taxi markets. This success opened the way for future integrations with leading dispatch systems.
2023 – Recognition and international expansion
At the start of 2023, hard work paid off. Together with our technology partner, we received the Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award for innovation in Conversational AI for taxi booking.
During the year, Taxibooker grew beyond the Netherlands. We expanded our plug-in to connect with new dispatch platforms and realized that the challenges faced by local taxi operators were the same across Europe.
In August, the first international taxi dispatch joined: Taxi-Holl Karlsruhe in Germany, followed soon after by AntwerpTax in Belgium. This marked the beginning of Taxibooker’s international journey.
2024 - Introducing new options worldwide
2025 – Introduction of SmartNotifier and new marketing tools
In 2025, Taxibooker made it even easier for taxi companies to get started with our platform. We launched SmartNotifier, a new way to inform passengers directly through WhatsApp, replacing traditional SMS. This simple but powerful tool allows leading taxi platforms to connect effortlessly to our messaging service.
This year also marked another milestone: LLM technology became the standard within Taxibooker, enabling faster adaptation to local languages, cultures and passenger behavior.
We also introduced Taxibooker Marketing, giving operators the ability to reach all their customers with WhatsApp broadcasting campaigns.
Finally, our network of integrations continued to grow, connecting with major taxi platforms such as Autocab, Sherlock and YellowSoft.
2025 – What’s going on now?
Right now, we are finalizing a completely new version of Taxibooker, built with the latest insights in AI and LLM technology. This upgrade makes it even easier to adapt to customer needs, improve the passenger experience, and scale faster with growing demand.
New countries are joining the network, including Switzerland, Spain and the UK, showing the steady growth of our international presence.
We also introduced a new pricing model, giving us the flexibility to handle META costs differently in each country. This makes it simpler and more cost-effective for local taxi companies everywhere to join and benefit from Taxibooker.
